בחודש אפריל בלבד, עלה המפלס של כנרת ביותר מ-30 סנטימטר. מפלס הכנרת עומד היום על מינוס 212.37- מתחת לפני הים. המפלס גבוה ב-63 ס"מ מהקו האדום התחתון, העומד על 213 מטר מתחת לפני הים.
כמות הממטרים שירדו בימים האחרונים, תהיה כנראה האחרונה לעונה ומפלס הכנרת לא צפוי לעלות באופן משמעותי. אבל העיקר הוא, עלייה של שליש מטר בחודש אפריל. גם באפריל 2006 המדהים לא עלתה הכנרת כך. ספיקת נחלי הצפון כעת גבוהה באופן יחסי לעונה (אמצע האביב, תחילת מאי), ואין סיבה שהכנרת לא תמשיך לעלות עוד מספר ימים בעזרת המים שזורמים אליה. צריך לזכור שכל סנטימטר הוא 1.5 מיליון קוב מים, וזו כמות גדולה של מים!
חשוב לציין שכבר כעת (-212.37) הכנרת עומדת בנקודה שלא הייתה בה מאז 2008, וזו השנה עם עליית המפלס המשמעותית ביותר מאז 2004 שבה הכנרת עלתה 215 ס''מ, וייתכן שנתקרב לכך (190-195 ס''מ).
קצב עליית הכנרת השנתי הממוצע הוא 150-160 ס''מ גם בשנים שלפני ההסכם עם ירדן, שעל-פיו מדובר בהקצאת 55 מליון מ''ק כל שנה (במקרה הטוב, הבדל של כ-30-35 ס''מ, ובשנים שבהן השאיבה וההתאדות נמוכים יותר, ההבדל הזה זניח עוד יותר).
רק במקרים נדירים (חורף 1968-1969, 1991-1992 ועוד כמה מקרים בודדים), עלתה הכנרת בכשלושה מטרים.
